While on the HCG drops diet it is very important to closely monitor your health. Before any diet you should consult your physicians and get their health recommendation based off your personal health history. A few basic things you will want to make sure you do are drink plenty of water, take adequate vitamin supplements such as B12 and B6, take natural supplements like green tea, and monitor your potassium intake.

The HCG drops diet is very effective in helping people lose 1-3 pounds of fat a day but dieters need to be careful to follow the diet guidelines very closely. If they follow the diet plan they will be healthy and able to lose weight without having to exercise. How Does Potassium Affect Weight Loss: Potassium is an essential mineral for growth and general good health.

Many of the bodies normal functions are regulated by potassium. Potassium can improve stress, fatigue, headaches, improve blood pressure, and regulate the transfer of glucose which affects our weight. It is also helpful in maintaining proper electrolyte balance with cells, helping muscle function and is instrumental in conducting nerve impulses.

Those of us with weight loss goals will benefit from potassium because it helps us build muscles, helps our muscles work properly, and helps us convert foods and stored fat into energy. While striving to lose weight it is very important to take supplemental potassium. How Does Potassium Help the Body: Our cells depend on sugar glucose for energy. When our bodies digest the food we ingest the sugars and starches are broken down into glucose. Most of that glucose is then distributed to the cells of the body.

The leftover glucose is stored in the liver in a very concentrated form known as glycogen. If blood sugar falls too low like during sleep or between meals that stored glycogen can be converted back into glucose and released into the blood stream, therefore delivering it to cells including brain cells. The liver needs potassium in order to turn glucose into glycogen. That means that if there is too little potassium consumed during the HCG diet, there will be little or no glycogen that can be turned into glucose to feed the cells when they need it. The amount of potassium that you intake is vital, especially during a low calorie diet such as the HCG drops diet.
